Suit Shop Feature | Broadsheet Sydney
Sydney men are quickly wising up to the fact that made-to-measure suiting is worth the extra time, but the experience is still often considered a luxury indulgence reserved for those of the fancy, martini-swirling, mansion-dwelling kind. Well, Suit Shop is a new player in Australian tailoring and it’s bringing a different level of class and a more accessible price to the previously exclusive custom-suiting market.
Launched in both Sydney and Melbourne, the tailors of Suit Shop have undergone an intensive training program under the guidance of the illustrious P.Johnson Tailors, which according to one of Suit Shop’s Sydney tailors, Rob Blythe, “ensures the cut is modern yet balanced and the end result is tasteful, strong and uncomplicated”. It’s a standard of suit that you’d expect at a much higher price point.
“Until now, there really haven’t been any great suiting options for Australian men who want to dress better at the sub-$1000 price point,” says Blythe. “Our suits start at $750 and we offer a wide selection of cloths. This means we are both compelling and attainable, especially for some of the younger guys who are looking to dress well.”
Following an initial consultation with your tailor, cloth selection and fitting, the suit is created for you in four weeks and hand-delivered for your final fitting. There’s no messing around with these guys and all alternations are recorded on a unique pattern tailor-made for your shape, which simplifies the process for subsequent suits.
